ECI-300 Animal Back-fat Measuring Instrument is a portable device designed for pig farms. The full-metal body with one-button measurement function and 10 hours of ultra-long battery life are suitable for high-intensity work, which helps scientific feeding management. 1mm resolution can identify the subtle fat changes, and regular calibration with the calibration column guarantees the accuracy of the data. Measurement results help farmers to quantitatively assess the degree of animal fattening and thinning, such as back-fat thickness > 18mm suggests the need to adjust the feed energy ratio to avoid excessive fattening. It is primarily used to measure the back fat in swine but can also be used to measure fat in cattle, sheep and other land animals, as well as blubber measurement in aquatic animals. Measurements are non-invasive—no piercing of the skin with the consequent danger of infection. The animals are neither hurt nor irritated.

The most accurate place to measure back-fat is to move your finger over the pig's ribcage to find the last rib, which will determine the front and back position, and 65mm (2.5 inches) on either side of the spine bone, which will determine the left and right positions.
