Intelligent Veterinary Ultrasound Technology Shines at The 16th Dairy Conference

A “marvel camera” that can see through the cow's belly was surrounded by curious farmers and technical experts at the Dairy Industry Conference held at the Xiamen International Convention and Exhibition Center.

The 16th Dairy Conference and Dairy 20 Summit was held at the Xiamen International Convention and Exhibition Center from July 13 to 15, 2025. 600 exhibitors covered the entire industry chain of the dairy industry, and in the 100,000-square-meter exhibition area, a technology once regarded as exclusive to high-end veterinarians -- ultrasound technology is quietly becoming the new favorite of farm management.

“This is a silent revolution in dairy farming,” said a farmer from Inner Mongolia at the show, "The days of judging the reproductive status of cows based on experience are gone. and now with ultrasound technology, we are able to accurately grasp the reproductive cycle and health status of each cow."

Dairy event, the industry's elite gathered in Xiamen to discuss development

China Dairy Association organized the sixteenth dairy industry conference to “quality and brand, the progress of the perseverance; cooperation and win-win, the choice in the changing situation” as the theme. A number of former vice ministers of the Ministry of Agriculture, Jianzhong Shen , academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, acting president and other industry authorities gathered in Xiamen.

Yu Kangzhen, Counselor of the State Council, former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, pointed out in the report of the General Assembly, “14th Five-Year Plan” period of China's dairy industry has made breakthrough achievements: the supply of production capacity to achieve the quality and efficiency of the double rise in the bottom line of safety, comprehensively built, science and technology empowerment to drive the industrial upgrading. In the face of the future, he emphasized that the “Tenth Five-Year Plan” period to “cultivate the dairy industry new quality productivity, breakthroughs in core technology bottlenecks,” for the industry to indicate the direction of technological innovation.

Technology-enabled farming ushers in an era of precision in breeding management

At the “2025 China Dairy Development Strategy Seminar”, the upgrading of dairy farming technology became a topic of focus. Ma Youxiang, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and former vice minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, emphasized in his report that the development of dairy farming should continue to strengthen its foundation. In particular, he pointed out the need to “strengthen the construction of disease prevention and control system, enhance the level of biosecurity”, and continue to promote the genetic improvement of dairy cattle.

The Animal Protection Zone of the exhibition brings together cutting-edge technologies in the field of veterinary drugs, vaccines and related biological products. Veterinary ultrasound equipment, as an important category of diagnostic and therapeutic instruments, attracted many professional visitors.

Bright Dairy showcased its innovations in the fields of “Farm Management” and “Cow Breeding” at its booth. Relying on the only national key laboratory in China to innovate breeding technology, the company broke through the difficult barrier, and its breeding cow “Champion Husband” was ranked among the top 100 international cows for the first time. 

Behind this achievement, the precise breeding management technology has contributed a lot. Veterinary ultrasound technology enables farm technicians to monitor the ovarian status of cows in real time, accurately determine the timing of breeding, improve the conception rate, and shorten the empty period.

Technical experts at the exhibition site introduced that veterinary ultrasound has now evolved from a simple pregnancy diagnostic tool to a comprehensive reproduction management platform: "We can now monitor follicular development, diagnose uterine diseases, assess embryo viability, and create an individualized reproduction profile for each cow.

In one corner of the exhibition hall, Li Xiaoming, a farm technician from Hebei, was experiencing the new generation of veterinary ultrasound equipment. The screen clearly shows the image of the cow's uterus in the body mold. He lamented, “Five years ago we still need special training to use this equipment, but now the system comes with intelligent analysis, and ordinary breeders can operate it.”

The China Dairy Association released the “Path of Transformation and Upgrading of China's Dairy Farming under the New Situation”, which proposes that the next five years will promote the transition of dairy farming to green and low-carbon. As these ultrasound devices move from the booth to the farm, the foundation of the dairy industry is becoming more solid with the empowerment of technology.
